MICRONEEDLING

MICRONEEDLING SKIN THERAPY

Microneedling also referred to as Derma-rolling is a device used for medical purposes. It is designed to break down old scar tissue in order to stimulate skin cells for growth on the Face, Neck and Body. This reproduction then results in the creation of new tissue layers with collagen and elastin fibers whild aiding in the improvement of blood supply. Microneedling is perfect for conditions such as Mild to moderate Acne, Surgical or Keloid scarring, Wrinkles and fine lines, Stretch marks, Large Pores and Skin Texture. Microneedling cannot be offered to clients who's acne is still active or in an agressive state.
The Derma-Roller device will gently glide over the skin, penetrating the layers that are closest to the surface, up to a depth of 2mm, to create several tiny needle abrasions. The treatment encourages the body to react through the formation of new elastin and collagen fibers. When the skin responds to the treatment, it thickens and plumps, which in turn minimizes the appearance of wrinkles, scarring, and fine lines.

Prior to treatment, you will undergo a full consultation where you shall meet your practitioner and discuss medical history and identify the main concerns with your skin. Once agreed and you're happy the treatment can be booked to go ahead. A topical anesthetic is applied to the skin and is left on for 20-30 minutes to take full effect. The Hand held Dermaroller is then applied and rolled over the skin. It helps penetrate the top layers of the skin going as far as 2mm below encouraging the body to produce new collagen and elastin. This step causes the skin to look red and some blood spotting can be seen. The treatment time is around 1 hour per session. Microneedling is recommended as a course of 3 or 6 depending on the severity of the condition and is performed 4-6 weeks apart. Downtime is as little as 1-2 days before the redness and slight swelling will reduce to normal. Sunscreen is essential to protect from UV Rays.

Derma-Roller results will be visible after the 2nd or 3rd treatment and will help the improvement in skin texture and pigmentation, Reduction of large pores, Skin hydration and circulation, Softening of acne scarring and Smoothing wrinkles and lines. These results are long lasting and can be maintained with a tailored at home skincare routine or by using other skin treatments such as Skin peels, Microdermabrasion and RF Facials.
